Your Best Year Ever

The start of a new year is a hopeful time! The year ahead is full of possibility. Each of us wants to have a great year. Faith can show us how to have one, because God created each of us with unique gifts and abilities.

If you want to have a great year, perhaps, your  best ever, reflect on what you’ve enjoyed doing most in your life. These are your keys to a great year. Focus on doing more of them in 2020.

When I think about the things I’ve enjoyed most, taking classes is one of them. The best summer of my life was when I took ancient Greek. While it was challenging, I loved learning the language and studying the culture of fifth century BC Athens. I know that many, perhaps, most of you reading this are rolling your eyes. You might not be able to imagine a worse summer. That’s the point.

God made you wonderfully. You have unique talents and passions. It’s irrelevant if other people can’t imagine doing what you enjoy. If you live into who God made YOU to be, you might have the best year ever, and you might also feel in a way you never have God’s joy. Eric Liddell, Olympic gold medal runner, said, “God made me fast. And when I run, I feel His pleasure.”
