In the Episcopal Church, the Easter season extends for 50 days from Easter Day to Pentecost.  The Great 50 Days, as they're called, remember the appearance the risen Christ made to his disciples.  Pentecost remembers the day when the Holy Spirit came on Jesus' disciples in Jerusalem.  Lent is the season of preparation for the celebration that precedes Easter.  It is a time to examine our lives and to turn again to God.
